Featured Video: DDD Sydney 2012 – Troy Hunt:
How Your Website is Being Pwned While You’re Not Looking
We all invest a lot of effort in the quality of our web development and (hopefully) security is one
of those practices we bake in from the ground up. Thing is though, like most things in software
development, times change and many of the practices we considered secure yesterday aren’t
necessarily so today. Hardware gets faster, automation becomes more prevalent and the bad guys
simply find new ways to break our good work.
This session looks at a collection of lesser-known practices which are being employed to break
through website security, often circumventing what we’ve traditionally held to be “secure”
practices. We’ll take a look at what these practices were designed to protect, how they’re being
broken and what we need to do differently to protect against them.

Enterprise MVC Apps

The Model View Controller design pattern has been a proven and effective way of structuring
applications for more than 30 years. In 2007, Microsoft introduced ASP.NET MVC to the world and
since then, the framework has evolved into a mature and powerful way of writing dynamic web sites
and powerful web applications.
ASP.NET MVC provides a great way of structuring your application, ensuring a clean separation of
concerns, easy testability, and ultimate control over markup. It is quickly becoming the go-to
framework for writing .Net web applications.
This 2 part course series will be run at 5 capital cities around Australia.
Enterprise MVC Apps Part I: Going beyond the demos
This course will introduce you to the latest version of ASP.NET MVC version 4. Throughout the course,

From Start to Rest in 60 minutes - Paul
Glavich
In this session, you will find out how to make a very REST friendly API using the new and shiny
ASP.Net WebApi technology set shipped with MVC 4. We will look at the way
we have exposed Api's in the past, and how that has changed overtime to what we have today. We will
examine how to create our Api to automatically handle HTTP verbs, easy support
of multiple content types, usage logging, various media handling and much more. If you are creating
a new Api, or are currently using ASMX, WCF, WCFWebApi or MVC to expose your Api,
come and see how to do it using the new kid on the block.
